Hong kong Marathon 2012

The Hong Kong Marathon is a huge event that has runners follow a path through some of the most beautiful scenery in Hong Kong. Be one of 70,000 participants or the huge crowd that cheers them on.  With all those participants there are many different brackets to sign up in if you want to run.

Hong kong Marathon 2012

The Hong Kong Marathon was started in 1997 and has continued to grow in size every year to set world records. This year they will max out at 70,000 participants. With all those participants comes an array of events a person can sign up for. They have a marathon, half marathon, 10 km, a wheelchair marathon and a special 3 km wheelchair race. All of these races start at various locations and end at Victoria Park.

Not only are there lots of events but also there are different age brackets within those events.  You have to be 16 to participate in the running. There are Juniors: being born 1993-1996, Seniors: being born 1973 – 1992, Masters 1: being born 1963 – 1972, and Masters 2: being born 1962 or before.

Be warned if you want to do this marathon sign up early because there is a quota and it is a SUPER popular event. If the quota is reached before the deadline the Organizer has a right to shut down without notice.  IT IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BIAS. It is only 40 U.S. dollars or 300 HK for locals and oversea participants.  Each participant gets an official T-shirt and souvenir. There will be medals to the ones who finish the marathon in 6 hours and for the overall winners there will be a cash prize.
